Daniel Portman was born and raised in Zurich’s (Switzerland) city suburbs. He fell in love with electronic music at a very young age.
It was nevertheless in the late 90s, with all its ups and downs, that young Daniel began to test his musical abilities on an Akai2000 sampler and his old sequencer.
After a long ride of experimentation, he ended up producing out of his bedroom. Optimistic that the sounds produced would make him famous he approached various record companies only to be turned away.
So Daniel went back to his small bedroom studio, and made another bunch of tracks. Later, he accidentally stumbled into the porn industry where he acted in different adult movies in order to make ends meet. Regardless, in the bottom of his heart, Daniel knew that his direction and future would lie in music production.
In 2006 he met Chris Reece, label owner of Unreleased Digital. All the years spent in his bedroom producing his music finally paid off. Chris called Daniel only to ask him: “Where should I send the contract to?”
In April 2007, his first EP “Backside / Evolution” was released on Unreleased Digital. Shortly thereafter, in June 2007, his follow up EP “I never Sleep / Essence” came out.
Based on his success in 2007 Daniel Portman already landed himself on the wanted list for numerous remix requests.
His version of Chris Reece’s “The Fall” became the main mix of the successful single released through MYLO Recordings in early 2008. Further,
he delivered a remix for Sultan & Ned Shepard titled “One Day” released on the Canadian label Harem and for Joey Fehrenbach’s “
Don’t wake me”on Morrison Records.
He also had the opportunity to remix the classic house tunes “Greece 2000” by Three Drives released on S2 Records.
